How My Life Improved with Better Hearing
A Better Life with Better Hearing

My mother was always my number one patient since I was in graduate school over thirty years ago. I started evaluating her to gain experience while I was at Florida State University. When she was sixty, I fit her with her first pair of hearing aids. She felt that she wasn’t hearing well and by the age of sixty she really needed a little “boost”. Her hearing loss was affecting her ability to communicate with people on a daily basis.
That was over twenty years ago. She had several pairs of hearing devices over the years and I often used her to experiment with new technology. She did very well with her hearing devices over the years and she would be the first person to tell you how they have improved her quality of life. It also made it much easier for my family to communicate with her, making family relations much better.
I can’t imagine how much poorer her quality of life would have been without her hearing devices. I am so glad that I was able to help make a difference in her life.
I am constantly seeing new patients who have put off getting their hearing evaluated or being fit with hearing aids for years. It is so sad to see. Their quality of life could have been so much better (sometimes for years)! Hearing aids are not those horrible huge things that you used to see hanging on ears. And the new ones don’t whistle all the time either! They are tiny, discreet, little computers that can do wonderful things. The key is to be fit with appropriate quality devices and ongoing care by a qualified doctor of audiology, not some “hearing aid specialist” with 6 months of basic training.
As an audiologist with over thirty years experience, I have built my practice on quality of care, not gimmicks. Everyone deserves to hear the best they can. I look forward to helping you improve your quality of life!
Sincerely,
Susan E. Terry, Au.D.
