I know I have written about this before; however, it is so important that I think it is important to bring up again.
Why two hearing aids? Have you ever heard if you don’t use it, you lose it? Well, this saying goes for hearing, as well.
I recently saw a gentleman who has worn a hearing aid in one ear for many years, even though his hearing is about the same in both ears.
When we created his hearing profile, the results showed a huge difference in his ability to understand words between the two ears. Because he had only used one ear for many years, his other ear and side of the brain had been neglected.
Now, even if he wears two hearing aids, he will never get the same benefit that he would have if he had started with two hearing aids in the beginning.
I always find this very sad because his quality of life could have been so much better.
