Per the CDC, the following information illustrates how long you need to be exposed to common sounds, on average, before they will cause damage to your inner ear.
❗ Gas-powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers are about 80-85 decibels and damage to your hearing can be caused after 2 hours of constant exposure.
❗ Motorcycles are about 95 decibels and damage to your hearing can be caused after about 50 minutes of exposure.
❗ Sporting events such as hockey playoffs or football games can reach about 100 decibels and damage your hearing within 15 minutes of exposure.
❗ The maximum volume level of a personal listening device can reach 105-110 and hearing loss can occur in less than 5 minutes.
I am sure after reading that list you have participated in at least one without the use of hearing protection. Hearing loss due to loud noises can build over time if healthy hearing habits are not practiced on a routine basis.
