Recently I came across a Facebook posting of a toddler getting her first pair of hearing aids. At first, she fussed because she didn’t want anything in her ears.
After her mother started talking she was all smiles. Even a toddler recognizes how important it is to hear speech.
I am always amazed that some older adults choose not to hear. They don’t feel that it is important to hear what is going on in the world around them. While hearing aids aren’t perfect, they are getting better every day and are quite amazing.
Hearing is so important for maintaining relationships with family and friends. Hearing makes us part of the world around us. Without adequate hearing, we live in isolation, which leads to so many other problems.
There are more and more solutions for people and greater affordability.
