For individuals with tinnitus (ringing in the ears) with more severe symptoms, there is help for you.
Over the counter pills are a waste of time and money. There have been no studies that show that these so called medications help. Some of the ingredients may actually cause symptoms to worsen, so please avoid the impulse to use these.
We now have so many tools to help with tinnitus, from specialized hearing aids that help to retrain the brain to ignore the noise, to relaxation techniques that are easy to do. Even exercise has been shown to be helpful in alleviating the noise.
As an audiologist, I have been trained to assist you in finding a plan that works for you. There is no one time fix and what works for one person, may not work for another. With an individualized plan, I can help you to a better life.
Just remember, only Audiologists are trained to provide tinnitus management. Hearing instrument specialists are not required to have any additional training beyond a high school diploma and six months of training. Advanced training is only provided to audiologists.

Please note: If your tinnitus is causing you to have depression and thoughts of suicide, seek help from a mental health professional immediately.
