Did you know that noise induced hearing loss is preventable? 15% of Americans between the ages of 20 to 69 and 60% of military personnel have noise induced hearing loss.
Unfortunately we live in a very noisy society that seems to think louder is better. It is much better to prevent hearing loss than treat it. Once hearing is damaged, it will never be the same, even with the best hearing aids available.
Hearing protection is a must for many situations. We have all been to restaurants that are so loud that conversation is a problem. Complain to the management and take your business elsewhere. No meal is worth loosing hearing. Carry disposable ear plugs to performances. Often they are so loud that you can hear just fine while wearing ear plugs. The movies can be very loud. Complain to the management. Realistic sound doesn’t have to injure your hearing. Protect children’s hearing by limiting their time with MP3 players and other devices that require the use of ear buds.
Noise exposure has been linked to tinnitus (ringing ears). It can be very unpleasant and even debilitating. It is best to limit noise exposure and wear hearing protection whenever possible.
We are happy to help you protect your hearing.
