There are many companies offering online hearing tests today. Mostly so you can purchase their cheap hearing aids online. It sounds like an easy way to take care of a hearing problem. Not so fast.
How accurate are these hearing tests? They cannot account for factors like ear wax that may be causing the hearing loss.
Noise in the room where you take the test affecting the results. (Your room isn’t as quiet as you think it is). Limitations of the headphones/ear buds, etc. that you are using.
I have a colleague who has taken a number of these tests and they all said he had a hearing loss. His hearing is perfectly normal.
There are many good reasons that you should seek out an audiologist for a valid hearing test. It will determine if you need to have ear wax removed, or if you need to seek medical attention. The audiologist will recommend a hearing aid solution that will give you the best outcome. Hearing aids are available in all price ranges. Online hearing aids may be more expensive in the long run. The key to your success is the expertise of an audiologist.
