We often hear about the obvious benefits of technology with all the latest features for hearing devices. Features like the ability to make clear, hands-free calls to both ears from any modern smartphone, Bluetooth enabled computer or iPad.
Other features include turning your Opn hearing devices into a wireless stereo headset for use in everyday situations, a companion microphone, and allows for hands free streaming of music and audio books.
One of the hidden benefits of this new technology is with lost hearing aids. Recently, two of my patients had lost their hearing aids and were able to find them with the Bluetooth technology. The app showed them where the lost hearing aids were.
On the other hand, I have also had patients who did not have the latest technology and lost their hearing aids, unfortunately it then means replacing the lost hearing devices and that is costly.
