Regular hearing aid maintenance is as important as maintenance for your car.
Your hearing aids work better, allowing you to hear better and do better.
For most of our patients, service is included with the purchase of hearing aids during the warranty period.
There is a small charge for servicing hearing aids that are not under warranty.
Some of my patients feel that regular maintenance is too costly or not important once the warranty expires.
As hearing aids get older, regular maintenance is even more important.
In the past two months I have had patients bring in hearing aids that had not been serviced in over two years. Both patient’s aids were around five years old.
Once hearing aids are five years old, the manufacturers charge considerably more for repairs. Because it had been so long since I had seen the patient’s hearing aids, it was impossible for me to remove all the debris that had accumulated and moved into the microphones and receivers. The hearing aids had to be returned to the manufacturer for repair.
This did not need to happen.
