We have discussed batteries several times; however, I think it is time for a little refresher. Most of my patients think that hearing aid batteries are all the same. Unfortunately, they are not.
Hearing aid batteries that you purchase at the drug store, grocery store, or big box discount store can have issues. They often haven’t been stored correctly and may have been sitting in a warehouse for several months before even being placed in the store. Recently I have had two patients who have ordered batteries online and have also had issues. (The expiration date on one package showed that the batteries were over a year old before she got them).
Over the years, we have experimented with all brands of hearing aid batteries. The Rayovac Proline Batteries last the longest. I order a month’s supply at a time. They are shipped straight from the factory to me. No stops in a warehouse. If you ever have a problem with our batteries, bring them back!
Don’t forget: when you peel the tab of the battery, wait a minute before putting in in your hearing aid.
