In today’s virtual world, many young people are glued to their tech devices: smartphones, tablets, computers, video games. While headphones can contain the noise, making the home a little more peaceful, always check the volume.
At the highest volume setting, most technology can produce sounds at 105 dB or higher. This volume can damage hearing in as little as 5 minutes! If you can hear the sounds playing from your child’s earbuds or headphones from a few feet away, the volume is too loud.
A good rule of thumb is to never raise the volume above halfway. At half volume or less, your children can safely listen for hours if they want to.
