We are going on three years, and I am still learning and researching auditory symptoms associated with COVID-19.
COVID-19 has been shown to leave some people with a wide array of long-lasting complaints. A small number of people have even reported experiencing auditory hallucinations after recovering from COVID-19.
So, what is an auditory hallucination?
Auditory hallucinations tend to sound different from tinnitus. They are complex sounds that could manifest as people talking or music playing, while tinnitus is typically a more simple sound, primarily humming or ringing. The cause of post-COVID brain fog, memory loss, and auditory hallucinations is thought to be continued activation of the immune system.
Have you experienced auditory hallucinations? If so, I recommend a formal hearing evaluation!
