I have found that continuing education is so important. It allows me to keep up with important changes in technology, hearing, hearing protection, tinnitus and rehabilitation.
I attended AudiologyNow!, the annual conference of the American Academy of Audiology last month.
I learned about preventing hearing loss through better nutrition, new treatments for the tinnitus patient, and of course, all about new technology to help my patients to lead a better life through better hearing. I am always amazed at how technology improves so fast. It is truly amazing.
This month, I will be attending a two day tinnitus workshop and a two day hearing aid workshop, so that I can provide better services for you.
It is easy to look in the newspaper and look at ads for “cheap” hearing aids. The hearing aids may be “cheap” or not. It is the knowledge and training of the person treating you that will make a difference in how well you hear and do.
As a board certified audiologist, I am required to have more than the minimum continuing education required by the state and generally have over 50 hours of continuing education every year. It is the only way I can remain current.
